This is a police series with a difference. Set in the country town of Matlock, the police are part of the day-to-day life of the community. Away from big city organised crime gangs, the team at Matlock need to deal with a wide spectrum of provincial police work – larceny, domestics, brawls, road accidents, the occasional homicide and even cattle rustling.

In Volume 1 we meet the team. Vic Maddern heads the CIB. He grew up in Matlock, knows the district and is an accomplished bushman. Vic is assisted by young Sen. Det. Alan Curtis – a city boy rapidly adapting to country life. Sgt. Bert Kennedy runs the uniformed branch. Bert is an experienced easy going Englishman who is proud to call Matlock home. Gary Hogan is the station’s motorcycle cop with a natural skill for community policing.
