Volume One - September 1, 1939 to February 17, 1940
War is looming and it poses very special threats to the Sullivans and their friends. Dave is a veteran of WWI and Grace, his wife, fears that he will enlist to fight again - but it is their son Tom who is the first to go off to war.

Local German shopkeepers, the Kauffmans, face discrimination and risk internment while amidst the turmoil is John Sullivan’s love for their daughter Anna.

With the war preoccupying the adults, 13-year-old Kitty Sullivan embarks on an innocent relationship with a lonely man – much to the consternation of Mrs. Jessup their nosey neighbour.

Classic tale with dated acting style Review by John F
The Sullivans has to be one of Australia's best loved series from the late 70's with Lorraine Bayly as Grace, showing her skills as a natural actor. The rest of the cast didn't quite match her ability with some of Kitty's responses dating the show somewhat. I regret not seeing the series on its initail run to enjoy the memories that such experiences offer.
It was fabulous to see Michael Caton, as Uncle Harry, in one of his earliest roles and see him still performing admirably in the recently released film "Last Cab to Darwin". I look forward to warming to the characters having just watched the first 2 Episodes.

Wonderful Memories Review by Diana
I couldn't wait to get my copy of The Sullivan's as I haven't seen it since the early 80's and I so wanted to relive the war time story by this series. Wonderful memories! They said I would bet my DVD's within a certain time and they came before the date they said, great doing business with Crawford Production. I can't wait for the remaining seasons only 14 to go.

What else would you buy the mother in law for her Birthday? Review by Donald W
What else would you buy the mother in law for her Birthday? Sure...make all the jokes you want...but my mother in law is the best in the world. I really, really wanted to buy and watch these I knew this would make the perfect gift for Mumsy because there is nothing better for the soul than giving. Added bonus...I will get to watch them with her when we visit so I now have something wonderful to look forward to as well.
Thanks and Happy Birthday Mumsy.

A family favourite Review by Karen Allen
This was a phenomenal series when it aired in the 1980's, and it still is.

The drama and actors are great - excellent story lines, played out by outstanding actors.

A much loved family favourite that everyone should have on DVD.

The Way We Were. Review by Patricia Groenewoud
A journey back in time faithfully portraying the way we were. No sex or violence which makes the whole potrayal more interesting and more true to life. Also a trip down memory lane for me. Everynight my family, when they were young, would gather to watch The Sullivans. The only series we all loved together. My family watching a family and remembering,
