Fantastic to see this show again. I remember watching the re-runs of this at 2pm during school holidays back in the 80's. Being home on time to watch Matlock Police was an absolute must. So good now I can have a binge session.

Great memories growing up with Crawfords shows.. they set the tone for everyone else.

... but at $60 per season, sadly they will only remain memories.
  8. Just as good today..

Really loving seeing Matclock Police again; had forgotten how great the acting and storylines were..... all 3 copshows were beyond excellent, all with their unique attributes. Matlock I always considered more "family" viewing... anway, I am just loving viewing these DVDs. Big thanks to Crawfords!!

Great to see Matlock Police released on DVD, a sort of country version of Division 4 on a smaller scale. And like Division 4 it covers a wide range of crimes from traffic offences to murder, with some country type crime thrown in. Just as Division 4 has some great visuals of late-60s/early-70s suburbia, Matlock has a similar feel except with a rural or semi-rural feel of pretty much the same era.

Like the other Crawford cop shows that preceeded it, one of it's strengths lie in the cast. Michael Pate, who thanks to his previous film and radio career and long stint in America was arguably the best known (or famous) of all the Crawford Cops, with that great voice (second only to Leonard Teale in my opinion) that you could listen to all day. Followed by newcomers Grigor Taylor and Paul Cronin who both went on to successful careers, at least in the 70s. Although after being a fairly constant presence on TV in the 70s, Grigor Taylor unfortunately seemed to fade into obscurity after the end of the decade, whereas Paul Cronin mainly due to The Sullivans of course, lived on. And rounding out the regular cast was the always watchable Vic Gordon.

Then of course there was the usual who's-who of the Australian acting industry (at the time) in various guest roles and finally the great theme music, which whilst only so-called "library" music, was my favourite theme of all, particularly when "married" to the opening and closing visuals.

Definately a five-star release this one!

Great to watch these old police shows again and with out the in depth crime scenes of todays shows, Easy to watch and still entertaining when they were first shown, brings back memories of some good times.

AWESOME. I think awesome will cover everything. Matlock Police was my favorite out of the three, Homicide and Division 4. I never get sick of sitting back and watching Matlock Police, or any of the Crawford police shows.
All we need now is for Crawford's to release Cop Shop, Bluey and Solo One to top it off, and i would never watch free to air again.

Arguably the most fondly remembered (and certainly my favourite) of the three Crawford cop shows, this DVD release is a long-overdue gem!

Now, if you'll just release "Ryan" and "BLuey"...

Very different from the American police shows I grew up with in the United States and very different from the police shows our US PBS (public Broadcasting Service) imports from the United Kingdom. There are some very interesting episodes in the first 16 that I have now watched as of last night. Several had topics that might have caused at least 2 of them to be censored in the USA. This show really benefits from the extended location footage each episode contains and I can see this was a big advantage when the show finally shifted to full colour production and I look forward to my weekly viewing of an entire DVD every Tuesday mornings between Mid Night and 4 am on these cold winter days. This show looks great late at night. Looking forward to watching and reviewing sets 2 and 3 that I have on the shelf
